Chapter 16

The Water-Palace (Preparations)

Emperor Saarang hopped out of his cruiser. He had decided to head to the Water Palace early, check on how the preparations were going. And to get out of the hair of the woman, who were running around the house like headless Granboks.

Although this was his house, he knocked on the door anyway. Alfran Goffil was the steward of this place and lived here throughout the year, it was only polite to wait to be invited in.

A polite, cultured voice spoke through the speaker by the front door, “Your Imperial Majesty, come on in and make your self at home.”

The front door swung open and the emperor stepped through the threshold. He heard more than saw the first sight – a massive cascading waterfall on either side that descended three stories in to the hallway he stood in now.

Hmm… Alfran must be busy, guess I could go inspect the rooms for the party, he thought to himself. He stepped in to four different rooms and was blown away by the setup, He’s really outdone himself this time.

The emperor climbed the stairs, searching each floor for his steward, he was no where to be seen. That was until he stepped out on to the roof and took in the view of the courtyard below.

“It’s breathtaking isn’t it?”

Alfran Goffil was swimming in one of the roof-top pools. His preparations for the evening done, he was taking some well earned relaxation time before the chaos began.

“Alfran!” said the emperor with a smile on his face “It’s been how long?”

“6 years, 10 months, 13 days, 7 hours, 28 minutes and…. 2 seconds.”

Saarang’s jaw just dropped. “H- How do you do that?”

Alfran pointed to his cybernetic eye “XIN app”

“Ah, of course. San’Dreki tech. Everything is in order?”

“Yes your Imperial Majesty. We only await the caterers, the entertainment, and the guests.” replied Alfran as he continued to swim laps.

“Excellent. Well Alfran, I’ll get out of your hair. The girls should be done getting ready by now. See you this evening.”

  1. Hi! I’ve been binge-reading this, but been quiet about it. When a story has shorter chapters I usually like to read a lot of them in a row and only then stop to actually comment. So consider my like for this a collective like for the entire story so far.

This world you’ve created is really impressive. I really like the creativity of it, and I like how these first dozen of chapters have just sort of been easing the reader into the world through amazing sets and interesting-looking characters and some hints of the history and inner workings of the world. And there’s some character drama set up and I have a feeling things are about to really go down soon so I’m excited!

I’m also really impressed by the way you have managed to make this Sims-story not look like a Sims story at all, in a good way. I mean, a lot of the times I almost forget that these shots are form a Sims game, and it really works for this story. Again, the sets especially are really awesome! And the main characters are pretty likable too, although so far we haven’t seen them do that much yet in the grand scheme of things. Shaera especially is in an interesting position and I like how she’s tough but isn’t solely defined through her toughness, like a lot of action girl characters tend to end up being. She also looks really cool and pretty.

So all in all, I’m definitely going to keep reading this!

    1. Aaaah! Welcome! 🙂 Thank you for your comments on my world-building. You’re right, things are about to go down, so brace yourself!! XD
I’m glad that you like the sets, I try to put a lot of effort into them, although the water-palace was built before Ironbound even started, funny how it just looks so perfect for it!
Shaela is my baby. Tough yet tender. I made her into a human and is a main character in my ninjapig world, that’s how much I love her 🙂
Yay! I hope you have fun, and thanks for reading!
